To Ste. Flavie, Quebec & Back

Younger sister Sara passed away in 2018 and thanks to a generous inheritance I was able to purchase this 2015 Kia Soul and take a road trip following up on Sara and mother Maxine’s trip to Quebec in 1987 in search of her mother’s baptismal record.

Anne Marie Charette was born in 1883 in the small town on the south bank of the Ste. Lawrence River around four hours’ driving time from Quebec City. Happy to report I photographed her baptismal entry in the church ledger; and, found the white stone marker of her parents’ grave in the church cemetery only to learn upon my return that Anne’s mother, Sophie, is buried in Minneapolis where she died — a mystery to solve another day.

Follow the story in seven parts:
1. Snohomish to Duluth
2. Duluth to Quebec City
3. Ste. Flavie, Quebec
4. Visiting Bradley, Maine
5. Tamworth, New Hampshire
6. Before and After Gettysburg
7. Rolla, Missouri to Home
